How in the hell do you close a steam account? I got one to play portal some five years ago and haven’t touched it since, but keep getting emails about people in various countries trying to use it.

You just delete/uninstall steam and that’s it. Steam will not close accounts even upon request.

Great. I got 19 access attempt emails just today. I wonder if I can change my address to steams hq and email to support@steam and let them figure it out.

you could swap the email on your steam account if anything or mark them as ‘spam’. On the steam support forums there are countless questions asked about account closures and there is no clear answer outside of just uninstall and let it be

Change the account name/email for steam maybe? That way whoever is trying to crack your account won’t be able to attempt anymore.
Or just make your password “The name of Succasunna comes from the Lenni-Lenape Native American word for “Black Rock”, most likely due to the rich iron-ore deposits in the area. The community was established circa 1740.” and see if they can crack it.

I love this site. I’ve never had to use it to delete an account, but I’ve recommended it to a few friends and they’ve all loved it. I’m glad something like this exists.
